How to Spot Fake YouTube Giveaway Scams

As with most online ‘too good to be true’ situations, social media giveaway offers are usually fake. Here are some of the most prevalent YouTube giveaway frauds.

Scams

  • Scammers pretend to arrange giveaways on renowned YouTube channels. Please comment on the video, subscribe to the channel, or take other steps to contribute. Scammers utilize false accounts to inflate comments and abuse engagement metrics.
  • Fraudulent giveaways offer cellphones, gaming consoles, and cryptocurrencies. Users must click links, complete out forms, or download malware to enter, risking their personal information and gadgets.
  • The “highlighted reply” option on YouTube comments may be used by scammers. They pretend to be the giveaway winner and ask others to follow instructions to collect their reward. Highlighted replies provide a misleading feeling of legitimacy.
  • Some fraudsters utilize tools or programs to produce false comments to make it look like many individuals are thrilled about the offer. This strategy uses social evidence to deceive viewers into believing the gift is real.
