Question 1

The table depicts the impact of these factors on three regions of the world during the 1990s, whereas the pie chart illustrates the primary causes of agricultural land degradation.

The pie chart illustrates that overgrazing is the most significant of three primary causes of farmland degradation. During this time period, Europe had a significantly higher proportion of unproductive land than the other two regions, as shown in the table.

Overgrazing comprises the largest proportion, slightly more than one-third, among the four causes depicted in the pie chart. Excessive crop utilization and extensive tree felling account for slightly more than a quarter and one-third, respectively.

Degeneration had affected approximately 25% of the total surface area of Europe, as indicated in the table. A negligible percentage of the total land area in North America experienced a reduction in productivity by 5%, while Oceania experienced a slightly higher decline at 13%.

Question 2

With an overall upward trajectory, the number of recent graduates in the United Kingdom experienced an abrupt increase to its zenith, followed by a less dramatic decline. Although positions that demanded professional expertise were the most favored by recent graduates, employment in the sales department was the least desired.

The United Kingdom welcomed 165,000 recent graduates in 1992. Following that, there was a substantial surge in this figure, which peaked at 195,000 in 1997 before regressing to 180,000 over the subsequent five years.

As noted by the division, professional work occupied the highest proportion of recent graduates in 1992, at approximately 58%. However, by 2002, only 43% of individuals had chosen to pursue this profession. The percentage of recent graduates employed as managers and administrators decreased marginally from 20% (approximately 33,000 graduates) to 18% in 1997, where it remained constant until 2002.

In contrast, the percentage of young adults interested in clerical and secretarial positions increased by approximately 20% during the same time period, from nearly 9% to roughly 20%. In the same way, the prevalence of sales and other professions among recent graduates increased marginally, to approximately 10%.

Question 3

The pie chart depicts the data pertaining to the primary concerns of Americans when utilizing public transportation, whereas the bar chart provides information on the five primary intentions of commuters in the United States in 2009.
The primary reason Americans utilize public transportation is to get to and from work and back home. However, they also identified six common issues that arise during public transportation. Their primary concern was the exorbitant fare, whereas the allocation of space for pedestrians was of minimal importance.

From one perspective, Americans engaged in public transportation for the following five primary reasons in 2009. Commuting to and from work constituted the primary factor (49 percent), followed by purchasing (16 percent) and personal reasons (19 percent, respectively). Additionally, the data indicates that individuals utilized public transportation for leisure activities (10%) and to pay a visit to acquaintances or family (6%).

However, transportation expenses represent the primary concern for 36% of individuals when it comes to utilizing public transportation. Safety concerns rank second with 19% of respondents. Additionally, the data reveals that 17% and 14% of respondents are concerned about aggressive drivers and traffic issues, respectively. Additionally, pedestrian space and accessibility to public transportation were cited with 8% and 6%, respectively.

Question 4

The graphs below show the Expenditure on Heath & Education, UAE as percentage of GDP and Infant mortality and life expectancy.

The bar graph provided illustrates the expenditures associated with health and education in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) between 1970 and 1992. The line graph provides information regarding the life expectancy and infant mortality rates of the UAE during the same time period.

10% of UAE GDP was allocated to education in 1985, while health care received approximately 8%, as shown in the bar graph. Following a period of five years, health care sector expenditures decreased marginally by 1%, whereas education expenditures rose by 4%. In 1993, health sector expenditures reached 10% of total GDP, whereas education expenditures increased by only 1% to 2%.

According to the line graph, infant mortality was extremely high in the UAE in 1970 (70 per 1000 infants) while life expectancy was 60 years. In 1992, life expectancy in the UAE increased by 22 years, surpassing 70 years, while the neonatal mortality rate decreased to 20. This demonstrates that the enhancement of life expectancy and reduction in infant mortality rate in the UAE are attributable to investments in the healthcare and education systems.

Questions 5

The bar chart below shows the numbers of men and women attending various evening courses at an adult education centre in the year 2009. The pie chart gives information about the ages of these course participants.

The provided graphs illustrate data regarding the age categories of adult education participants in 2009. In general, the proportion of male pupils at this adult education center exceeded that of their female counterparts, with individuals aged 50 years or older comprising over 40% of the total participant pool.

The adult education center offered drama classes for a total of 20 male students and 10 female students, as indicated by the bar graph. There were 30 male pupils enrolled in the painting course, while there were approximately 24 female students. The number of students enrolled in sculpture-related education was the fewest, with female students outnumbering male students by approximately 10 to 5. The language course at which the greatest number of students enrolled was male (40 participants), which was double the number of female students (20 participants).

Based on their age categories, the provided pie chart illustrates the proportion of students. The graph illustrates that individuals aged 50 or older constituted a majority of over 42% of the entire participant pool. Those between the ages of 40 and 49 comprised the second largest age group for adult education course participants, with all other age groups accounting for the remaining 32%.
