The Global Solar Power Tracker is a collection of solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal plants that are distributed around the globe and are of utility size. It encompasses all stages of solar farms that are now operational and have capacities of one megawatt (MW) or more, as well as any projects that have been announced, pre-constructed, constructed, or shelved that have capacities of more than twenty megawatts (MW). There are also some statistics given for plants that have been either decommissioned, mothballed, or canceled.
It is common practice to characterize a solar project phase as a collection of one or more solar units that are built in accordance with a single permit and a single power purchase agreement, and that normally come online at the same time.
