The Global Wind Power Tracker (GWPT) is a global dataset that includes onshore and offshore wind installations that range from utility-scale to offshore.
The wind farm stages that are included in this project have capacities of ten megawatts (MW) or above. It is common practice to characterize a wind project phase as a collection of one or more wind turbines that are erected in accordance with a single permit and a single power purchase agreement, and that normally come online at the same time.
When this capacity barrier is reached, the GWPT archives every phase of wind farm development, regardless of its state. This includes phases that are running, announced, pre-construction, under construction, shelved, canceled, mothballed, or decommissioned.
